Audio-Visual (AV) Installation Technician II

– Columbia, MO

We are hiring a mid-level technician in Columbia, Missouri. Installation Technicians are responsible for installation of AV systems and performing general labor as assigned at customer job locations. Local and regional travel will be required for this position. This is a mid-level technician role for someone who has prior AV installation experience.

Job Type: Full-Time

Ideal Candidates:

  • Have 1 year of audio-visual (AV) commercial installation
  • Be able to complete structured cabling projects (pulling, terminations, testing)
  • Can read engineering drawings/specification sheets and/or lead small to mid-level installation projects without control/Audio DSP
  • Have a valid driver/license and acceptable driving record
  • Huge plus (but not required) if you are CTS certified, have familiarity with audio configuration, and/or have experience with control systems like Crestron or Extron

We are hiring a Lead Technician in Kansas City, Missouri. Installation Technicians are responsible for installing AV systems and performing general labor as assigned at customer job locations. Local and regional travel will be required for this position. This is a Lead Technician role for someone with 6-8 years prior AV installation experience leading projects.

Job Type: Full-Time

Ideal Candidates:

Founded in 1953, Kansas City Audio-Visual (KCAV) creates engaging spaces to learn, work, and share by designing, installing, and supporting audio-visual and communication systems throughout the Midwest.

We have one Project Manager position open, based at the Kansas City, MO office. After on-site training is completed, both may be eligible for a hybrid arrangement. Local/regional travel throughout the home base metro area and the central Midwest will be required regularly. 

The Project Manager will plan, organize, direct, and control project activities required for effective management of assigned integrated audio-visual installation projects from startup to closeout for KCAV including:

  • Provide information to applicable parties after determining labor and material requirements needed to complete project within the presented financial parameters to meet profitability goals
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Department on design and drafting phases of jobs
  • Prepare the project installation plan, manage the job plans and specifications and prepare and implement job procedures
  • Plan, schedule and forecast internal engineering and installation staff for assigned audio-visual installation projects, working closely with Installation Technician Foreman to schedule the job
  • Manage subcontractors for the project including maintaining construction schedule, coordinating task scheduling with other trades, selecting subcontractors and monitoring performance of subcontractors
  • Coordinate the procurement of materials, supplies and services and arrange for timely delivery to appropriate location
  • Serve as central point of contact for project and prepare progress reports, and facilitate communication with all applicable parties on a regular and timely basis appropriate to the scope of project including preparing progress reports
  • Maintain project records in Q360 and ensure the data is updated regularly so reports are current and accurate at all times

 What you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience in project management and/or installation of audio-visual systems, or equivalent experience in a similar industry
  • Demonstrated planning skills and demonstrated knowledge of installation operations
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; prior experience with Solutions Q360 preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check (including pre-employment drug screening)

  • Senior level of technical knowledge on audio-visual products and infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of networking as it pertains to AV
  • Full Understanding of and experience with project technical documents:
    • Engineering/Architectural drawings
    • Project Schedules
    • Ability to meet project deadline dates
  • AutoCAD review and editing experience
  • Identifying and developing Change Orders
  • The ability to communicate with employees and customers with varying personalities
  • The ability to multitask with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to organize and facilitate staff workload in accordance with project requirements
  • The ability to problem solve and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • The ability to conduct a business meeting, present to an audience and conduct solution training
  • Skills and understanding of commercial building construction
  • Ability to conduct presale off-site meetings and craft a workable scope of work from sales reps direction

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS & COURSES:

  • AVIXA CTS-D Certification within one year of employment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Building and cultivating relationships, utilizing a consultative approach
  • High standard of personal integrity & professionalism
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel)
  • Experience with Q360 is preferred but not required
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent motivation, follow-up, documentation, prioritization, customer service and multitasking skills.
  • Must have creative can-do attitude, a strong work ethic and the ability to work well with others and build relationships with employees and customers with varying personalities.
  • Expert experience with K-12/Higher Ed/commercial Audio-Visual Systems that include:
    • AV Networking + Topology
    • Large flat-screen displays
    • Speakers
    • Audio DSPs
    • Matrix mixers/switchers
    • Soft-Codec Systems
    • Video conferencing codecs
    • Custom control systems
    • Projectors
  • Familiar with commercial construction practices
  • Driver’s License and a safe driving record as defined by our insurance company
  • 5 plus years of experience with architecting and implementing Audio Visual technology preferred, not required
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
